IS IT TIME TO UPGRADE TO A MODERN CCTV SYSTEM?

CCTV cameras are a great asset to have on hand when you want to deter criminal activity around your property and keep an eye on your home.

High Resolution CCTV Cameras are especially important on business premises where there is a rapid influx of new customers and activity. You may need keep a record of in case of any potential issues that might require evidence or identification of someone.

A modern reliable system is able to put both homeowners and businesses at ease.

Traditional CCTV Systems, however, record the footage on a hard drive or a CD. This means that it is kept on the same premises as the camera and may be vulnerable do the same incident you intend to document.  Often you can only view footage when you are at the premises. This can be inconvenient when you go on holiday or have multiple businesses spread spread over a large geographic area.

This issue is now becoming increasingly redundant due to the development of Security Systems that are connected to the "Cloud" allowing owners to view the footage anytime they want via a mobile App.

There are many advantages to having an App for your Security System, we'll try and sum some up below.

THEY MAKE BUSINESS OVER MULTIPLE SITES EASIER

Having a CCTV App linked up to your phone means that you will be able to do so in the comfort of your home, office or customers location.

You don’t have to stop what you are doing and drive over to multiple premises to check in person, just launch open the App and have a look on your phone!

You will especially value this convenience if you live far away from your business or holiday home.

THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH VALUABLE FEATURES

A Security CCTV System with mobile application compatibility will be linked to the "Cloud" in order for it to stream the video feed to your electronic device.

With its access to the internet, many CCTV System providers also include handy features such as both physical and cloud storage, the ability to download specific footage to your phone. Even the ability to alert you if it detects motion during night time or other times you set.

THEY CAN NOW INCLUDE TWO WAY AUDIO

Modern CCTV Cameras and Systems often have the built in ability to both listen to, and speak to visitors to your property. This two way audio can be used both to communicate and carry out business and activities at a distance but also to deter activities.

THEY ARE AN OMNIPRESENT SECOND PAIR OF EYES

People now know that when they see your system is a modern one, it is much more likely be used remotely, they are more likely to be deterred from committing crimes. Whether it is staff members with bad intentions or customers who want to cheat your business, if they know that at any point you could be monitoring them, they won’t be as willing to engage in dishonest behaviour such as theft.

THEY ALLOW YOU TO RESPOND FASTER TO INCIDENTS

When you can check in on your CCTV feed whenever and wherever you are, it is possible to identify suspicious activity quickly and act on it before it is too late. Even then, often by the time you are aware it can be too late.

Having an App Controlled System which you can set motion and audible alerts directly to your phone can mean the difference between simply providing evidence after the event and actively stopping an unfolding event. You can call emergency or security services to check on your property immediately, reducing the likelihood of criminal activity damaging your home or business.

THEY CAN BE RAPIDLY DEPLOYED

Traditional CCTV Systems are cumbersome and require much more infrastructure.

Modern Systems can be deployed fast, whether its a full Power over Ethernet System or a couple of WiFi Cameras to cover internal or external areas your installation times are measured in minutes or hours rather than days.

THEY CAN REMOVE THE NEED FOR A LOCAL RECORDER

Historically to record footage you need to have a separate recorder on location. This is still a large part of the CCTV market, but more and more where the requirement is only to record a handful of cameras, and there is a reliable internet connection, it is possible to do away with this functionality altogether.

Modern cameras can be set to record to a remote "FTP" server, which can be hundreds of miles away, but equally you can just "rent" space with the manufacturers "Cloud" service. This means you have no hardware costs for recording and can access your footage even after total loss of your hardware.
